Celebrating Yorkshire Day with The Clandestine Cake Club in Spen Valley

1 Aug

Today is Yorkshire Day and we celebrated it a little early last weekend with the Spen Valley branch of the Clandestine Cake Club.

Yorkshire Tea offered to sponsor Yorkshire Day Clandestine Cake Club events and my mum, Sue or Eviesgran as a lot of you might know her as, took up the offer.

Yorkshire Tea sent us the tea, cups, tablecloth, bunting and, after a canny email from Sue, a teapot to help us celebrate. We are in the lucky position that we can use the church hall in Liversedge for a donation (which was quite sizeable thanks to the generosity of the members) as it is where the guides I am involved in meet and this provided the perfect location. The event was slightly different to some Clandestine Cake Club events as usually, although we bring the cakes, we purchase the drinks from the cafe or restaurant who is kind enough to host the event.

As usual we had a table full of lovely cakes, the conversation flowed and everyone had a lovely time.

Lynn Hill who is the founder of the Clandestine Cake Club joined us and said a few words thanking the members and organisers for taking part.

I started off in the kitchen with the kettles on, but before long I was eating cake for breakfast!

If you like what you have seen here and fancy joining in, you can look on the Clandestine Cake Club website for your local branch or more information.
