My gift from my first Foodie Penpal. May 2012

31 May

I stumbled across the “Foodie Penpals” as a hashtag on twitter (#foodiepenpals) at the end of last month. As I found out more about it, I decided that I must join in!

It is organised by Carol Anne on her blog, thisisrocksalt.com and she explains that the idea started in America and now is also in Canada and in Europe.

Every month, Carol Anne works out who must buy for who. It isn’t a swap – you buy for one person and receive from another. There is a limit of a £10 spend and it must be posted by the 20th of the month. You should make contact with who you are sending to and find out if they have any special dietary needs or special requests and it is also nice to find out a little bit about them so you can send them an appropriate gift. You should send a handwritten note in your box of goodies too. Then you should blog about your gift and post it on the last day of the month and link up with the other blogs.

We all link up here. The Lean Green Bean founded the foodie penpals.

I was amused to find out that I was buying for my friend Louise. I had suggested that she might like the foodie penpals too and then I ended up buying for her! You can find out about her and her gift on her blog.

My sender was a girl in Plymouth called Jen, who has a video blog on her youtube page.

My gift was so thoughtful. After only having contact for a few days on twitter, Jen had got me sussed!!
